Anthony Pepe Wins Lucky 13

  • Mon, August 17, 2020

NEBA bowlers returned to the lanes after 5 months away due to the global pandemic on August 15th. The perfect combination made this event possible and a success - great sponsors, a fantastic host and detailed planning by the board of the directors. A new format taking into consideration social distancing guidelines and COVID restrictions gave all the bowlers open space and squad cuts so everyone knew if they made the finals once the squad was over.

NEBA Hall of Famer Anthony Pepe qualified for the finals with a 1074 on the Sunday afternoon squad.  He advanced through the elimination finals as the cut in round 1 with 188, 201 in round 2, 222 in round 3 and 248 in round 4 for a spot in the final match against Packy Hanrahan.  Pepe took the lead at the start while Packy struggled on one lane to win 211-150 and his 13th NEBA title.

BuddiesProShop.com and 900 Global came through during this tough time for businesses and bowling as sponsors for the tournament by adding $1,500 to the prize fund. Their support had a major impact on the prize fund with Pepe winning $1,800, Packy taking home $1,200 and low to cash $210 which is more than double the entry fee.
