Brandon Vallone captures his 1st NEBA Title with a win at the Savage Arms Open on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at Bowlero Chicopee in Chicopee, Ma. We had 160 bowlers come out to compete, of which 40 made it into match-play on Sunday afternoon.
Brandon qualified in 30th place during qualifying, defeating Jeremy Hartbarger, 268 to 193, for the first match-play round. The win in the first round now moved Brandon to face the number three bowler, Michael Mirabile, of which he also won his second match, 289 to 165. Brandon now advanced to the round of 16, where he defeated John Williston 224 to 174, moving on to the round of 8; Brandon then defeated Greg Green 207 to 168 and advanced himself to the semi-final match, where he battled against the recent Senior Champ, Chris Forry, and defeating him 201 to 168 to move into the championship match against a tough Colby Hagemoser. As the game started, we knew we would crown a new champion because both Colby and Brandon were looking for their first title; Brandon came out on top in this match, defeating Colby 288 to 228. Brandon won $1,000 plus an entry into this year's SPI Tournament of Champions event in November, while Colby took home $650 for second place.
We want to thank AL Kasper and Savage Arms for their continued support of NEBA, the sport of bowling, and for adding $500 to this weekend's prize fund.
