Michael Martell captures his first NEBA title, winning the BuddiesProShop.com Open on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Nutmeg Bowl in Fairfield, CT.
Michael qualified 8th for the eliminator-style match-play through the 9 am squad on Sunday morning with a qualifying score of (1073). We had 156 bowlers competing on the PBA Wolf sports lane pattern, where the top 32 advanced in this elimination-style format. During round 1 we had 32 bowlers looking to advance to round two, however only the top 16 would advance with a cut score of 192. Michael shot a 219 to be in the middle of the field for match number one, advancing him into the round of the top 16 bowlers, Michael rolled a 211 which was above the cut score for round two of 191. Advancing into the round of 8, Michael had a high score of 247, while the cut was 188 to advance the top four bowlers into the semi-finals. During the semi-final match, Michael again had a high score of 210 while the cut was 201 for Michael to advance to the Championship match against the 2023 Bowler of the Year, Colby Hagemoser. Michael continued to dominate this match and defeated Colby 205 to 157 for his first NEBA Title.
Michael won $2,200 plus a paid entry of $125.00 into the SPI TOC in November of this year, for a total prize payout of $2,325.00, while Colby took home $1,400 for his second-place finish.
