Tyler Hurne wins title #2 at the Green Mountain Open in Rutland, Vermont, on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Rutland Bowlerama.

This past weekend, NEBA returned to Rutland Bowlerama for the Green Mountain Open, presented by Black Dog Shooting Supplies and Sponsored by Rutland USBC Association and Rutland Bowlerama.

We did have a low turnout this year at Rutland, but we could take 24 into match-play on Sunday afternoon for an exciting afternoon of bowling. Tyler qualified 9^th overall from the Sunday morning squad with a qualifying score 1137. As Tyler tied Nathan Ruest Lajoie with the same score, Nathan secured the last bye spot due to having a higher game over Tyler. In Tyler’s first match, he bowled Bruce Hall, defeating him 233 to 147, moving him to bowl Nathan Ruest Lajoie in the second match-play round. Tyler overcame his opponent 205 to 194, moving him into round three of match-play against Nate Clark. Tyler continued to dominate, defeating Nate 223 to 181, pushing him into the semi-final match against the number four qualifier Jesse Gibson.

Jesse has been knocking on this door for a while, and one day, it will open for him; however, on Sunday, Tyler defeated Jesse 221 to 181 to face off against Ryan Ladlee for the Championship match. With the adrenaline pumping and Tyler focused on the finish line, Tyler defeated Ryan 246 to 205, securing title number two.

Tyler took home the top prize of $1,050 plus the paid entry of $125.00 into this year’s TOC in November for a total prize amount of $ 1,175.00. Ryan took home $750 for his second-place finish.
